1Who we are
This website is operated by Ragù Italian Bistro, a restaurant trading at 5–7 Guildhall Street, Preston, PR1 3NU, United Kingdom.
Ragù Italian Bistro is a trading name of Donna Maria Preston Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16976797. Registered office: 5–7 Guildhall Street, Preston, PR1 3NU.
For anything related to privacy or your personal data, you can contact us at ragu.italianbistro@gmail.com or by phone on +44 7922 958745.
2What information we collect
This website does not currently have any booking form, newsletter sign-up or other form that asks you to submit personal data directly. If that changes in future — for example if we add an online booking form — this policy will be updated to explain exactly what is collected and why, before that feature goes live.
If you contact us by phone or email, we receive whatever details you choose to share with us (for example your name, phone number, email address or reservation details), so that we can reply to you or handle your reservation. We only use that information for the purpose you contacted us for.
Like virtually every website, ours also generates standard technical logs through our hosting provider (see "Hosting and other services" below) — things like IP address, browser type and pages visited. This is collected automatically for security and performance reasons, not to identify individual visitors, and we do not access or analyse it ourselves.
3Cookies
This website does not currently use any analytics, advertising or marketing cookies. The only thing stored in your browser is a small technical flag (via localStorage, not a tracking cookie) that remembers you've seen the cookie notice on our homepage, so it doesn't show again on every visit.
If we introduce optional cookies in future — for example website analytics, to understand which pages are useful — we will update this policy first and ask for your consent through the cookie banner on the site before anything non-essential is activated. You will always be able to accept or decline.
4Hosting and other services
We use a small number of external services to run this website. None of them are advertising or tracking services:
- Cloudflare — hosts this website and automatically generates standard server logs as described above.
- GitHub — stores the website's source code (not personal data).
- Google Maps — the map on our homepage is a plain image stored on this website (map data © OpenMapTiles and OpenStreetMap contributors), so viewing it shares nothing with Google. Only if you click it does Google Maps open, under Google's own privacy policy.
The fonts used on this site are hosted directly by us rather than loaded from Google, so no information about your visit is shared with Google Fonts.
If you place an order through Uber Eats, that order and any data you provide is handled under Uber Eats' own privacy policy, not this one, since it takes place entirely on their platform.
5How long we keep information
Since the website itself doesn't collect personal data yet, there's nothing to retain from it. Any details you send us by phone or email are kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond to your enquiry or fulfil your reservation, and then deleted or archived in the normal course of running the business.
6Your rights
Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR), you have the right to:
- ask us what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access);
- ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification);
- ask us to delete your data (erasure);
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use your data;
- ask for your data in a portable format, where relevant.
To use any of these rights, just contact us using the details above. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
7Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example when we add new features to the site such as online bookings or analytics. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
